Branding bay-bay. It’s all about the glam
Desperate times and all…the new stuff my doc gave me has alcohol in it. I hate that, but it’s the way it comes. I’ve been using it and no matter how much I wash, I’m still getting makeup off onto the pad. No wonder I’m breaking out. Especially on the days I play with pigments. They really sink into your pores.
I finally decided to purchase a Clarisonic Mia to clean my skin OUT. I’m not keen on investing in a facialist, but this is cheaper in the long run. I’ll let you know.
The more frustrated I become with my skin. For a long time, in y teens, I fought it. Anti-biotics, creams, potions, lotions, treatments. Gack, it didn’t work. I’d spend tons of time trying to cover the goobers with my Cover Girl. One of the reasons I refuse to use it now. I don’t care what they come out with.
I’ve recently started fighting again. The weapons are better, the results…I don’t know. My skin seems more clear, but I get strange patches where the skin is peeling. I think that’s what it’s supposed to do. At least I vaguely remember my doctor mubling something about it as he handed me the scrip. All I really know is that I had a new weapon in my arsenal and I was going to try it. So far, knock wood so good. The combonation of the topical an-biotic and the Differin seem to be doing good things. No new zits in five days. A record for me. Now, what to do about my pores?
I cut mine and now I’m lost. I don’t know if I should go shorter, wait it out, do some sort of hair ritual naked in the rain? Again, lost. It’s silly, really. It’s JUST HAIR! But it’s so much a part of my identity. I have to teach a class tonight. Makeup I’m 100% okay on. Clothes? Easy. Hair??? HELP!
That’s a question that’s starting to be asked more and more as time goes on. You have fluffs of powder in the air, molecules so small they sink into your skin deeply, and is it, could it, be doing anything bad to you? Is there a danger down the road?
The answer? We just don’t know. Right now some scientists are speculating there may be a problem based on past small-particle inhalation, butl, to date, no double blind studies have been done, or if they have, are inconclusive, at best.
The answer? Safety is always a good idea. Don’t stick your nose in your mineral makeup (why?). When opening jars, turn your head to the side. Use a mask when working with mineral makeup and making your own. I’m not talking application. This is when you press pigments, create your own colors, etc. Just use common sense. My Makeup Forever HD Powder makes a huge puff. Good for HD, bad for lungs. If you don’t need HD powder, don’t use it. Makeup Forever makes other powders and those are wonderful. MAC makes nice high-end powders that are larger, as well as some that can work with HD.
Think about the size of the particles and press some of your own makeup, so the particles don’t waft into the air. Besides, you won’t use nearly as much product, with the waste. Every puff of mineral makeup in the air, is less for your loveliness.
Beauty with a lower cost of future problems is always a good thing.
I need to re-vamped and to put up some reviews and tutorials here that are not on my Youtube site. There’s a lot I want to share outside of YouTube and I’m not using this forum like I should.
Okay, so there are far fewer blackheads and no white bumps under my skin, but I’m still incredibly oily and get about 1 painful cyst on my face a week. VERY deep and painful. My sin is either healing, SLLLOOOOWWWLLLYYY in thoe spots, or is actively inflamed. My new routine has helped so much, but it’s far from a panacea. What next? The only thing left is Accutane. I don’t even know if I qualify for it. With my past depression does that rule me out? Although it does not seem to increase suicide rates, or depression in adults. Grrrr. What do I do?
Since I did ten of my faves yesterday, today I’m doing ten must haves/tries for 2010. Of course this list will be added to, deducted from, etc.
In no particular order:
1. MAC Studio Finish Concealer.
I’ve heard everyone rave about this, so there has to be something there. Even the non-Mac’s love it. Review after review give it high marks for hiding issues and not sliding down your face. My stuff all slides.
2. Coastal Scents:
Creative Me Palette. It’s like a tropical bird in a tree full of exotic fruits and flowers. The colors are irresistible.
MAC:
Lipstick in, “Pretty Please.” Universally flattering and scrummy. LE, so hurrying is a must.
Lush:
Shampoo soap. It looks so odd and I’ve never used shampoo in a soap form before, other than Ivory and that was a disaster of horrors. I’m interested enough to get a sample.
Smashbox:
I’ve heard nothing, but good about their stuff and one eyeshadow is worth a try. We shall see.
Pantene:
Purity Clarifying Shampoo. Supposed to be a great cleanser, that does not make hair oily. We shall see. I’m super picky about shampoo.
Maybeline:
Eyeshadow Quads in Stylish Smokies/Natural Smokies.
I’m going on vacation (Petend) to an island and the carry on rules are so strict! I don’t want to pack a seperate bag, so what ten items do I bring and why?
1. Valuminous Mascara. It’s cheap if the FSA yanks it and it’s excellent. Piling it on can give me a falsie look without looking like spiders are on my lashes.
2. Small size Got2B mousse. I love Got2B and the price is right.
3. Nyx Bronze Goddess box. It’s got everything I need to fake a tan and look amazing.
4. Sunscreen, spf 30. Really, anything higher than that is a waste. Thirty will do for most people. It’s super strong. Oh, and it’s got to be waterproof and re-applied often. I run around a lot. I can’t just lay there with a book.
5. Small Conair Straigtener. It can be used to straighten, or curl. A dual purpose tool is the best there is.
5. Lipgloss. Lots of it. Well, maybe three. A MAC, NYX and one other. Clear, and two shiny colors. Makes me feel dressed up, even when there is nothing else on.
6. Laura Geller Tinted Moisterizer. Moisture after sun is important and it just finishes your face for a great look for nights out.
7. Urban Decay 24/7 liner. It stay on and looks great.
8. A Gel Liner from Coastal Scents. I love them, truly and you can go with a gorgous gold to line with and to use under shadow for a pop of color.
9. Lush Dream Cream. Not sure how to get this one past security, but it’s so wonderful. It smells good and feels better.
10. Aussie Three Minute Miracle. I can deal with hotel shampoos, but not without my Aussie. It’s on of the best things on the market and it won’t break the bank.
That’s my list, do you have one?
Oh, and all you need to pack is a couple T’s, some shorts, pants for night with a cut top and a dress. A pair of day and night sandals, a book and your good to go.
Well, new year, new stuff, new tattoo. I’ve got a gorgeous tattoo on my right wrist that is very symnolic to me and includes the names of everyone in the family. I love it. I could care less who dissaproves of it, because it’s very, “me” and it’s a gorgeous art piece, all on it’s own.
Speaking of art pieces, I make them. I’ve decided to put them on my, “Herne’s Folly,” site. It’s not just cosmetics, it’s about embracing who you are and since I do a lot of art-to-wear with things that are too big for me, why not see if they will sell? I can pop them on my Etsy Shop as well, since I’ve always intended to do that and never have. I’ve got the shop. Why not use it, for cripes sake?
